Each day students earned totems of respect that were awarded to them by a classmate.
How do we create a culture of synergy in our classroom?
Earning Badges & Totems
Camp Badges and Beads are earned by completing a variety of workshops associated with camping. Some of these badge workshops include: Chanting, Meal Preparation, rolling sleeping bags, the science of S'mores, Medic and teamwork to name a few. Students can become experts by taking an exam. Black beads are earned for passing the exam.
Totems represent 5 different qualities of respect: Respect for Adults, Friends, Property, Self, and Family. Each morning students pick a name from a hat and observe their partner throughout the day. At the end of the day, each partner celebrates a specific quality of respect that they caught their partner exhibiting.

The 4th Grade students at HTe will be experiencing a new way to get to know their classmates at the beginning of this school year. This project package consisits of the planning and calendar of events that took place throughout this project.
