ABOUT ME

History

Daniel Romo is one of the founding teachers at High Tech Elementary. He was born and raised in San Diego and currently has a residence in Chula Vista. He shares his home with his wife Jennifer (also a teacher) and his three children: Alora (8), Noah (7), and Elijah (3). Dainel and his wife started their lives together in Chula Vista and soon moved to Japan to teach on a Naval base called Naval Air Station Atsugi approximately 35 miles south of Tokyo. After spending four amazing years in Japan and traveling and experiencing the Far East , Daniel and his family moved back to San Diego to raise their children and be nearer to family.

Mr. Romo has been a credentialed teacher for eleven years, having taught a variety of grade levels and specialty positions ranging from first grade through sixth grade as well as teaching in specialized classes such as ESL and GATE and Technology.  He found his passion for teaching in the project based model while in Japan teaching first and second grade students through thematic units. Upon returning to California he was hired to adapt project based approaches to a GATE and Technology class taught to third through sixth graders.   Once Daniel Romo came to High Tech Elementary, he found his home in a Project Based Model school.

Some of Mr. Romo's greatest projects at HTe consist of The Science Behind the Seasons: Why it Doesn't Snow in San Diego, Building Our Community Map: A study of how local community member practice the High Tech High 5 Good Character Traits, and his legacy gift to HTe: HTe's Certified Monarch Waystation and Butterfly Garden, to name a few.  Daniel Romo believes in making connections to real world and to the adults in our community. Teaching through experience is one of his core beliefs as he will often be seen with his students outside or on a variety of field experiences. Mr. Romo practices strong collaboration with his team in order to integrate multiple subject througout  this projects and in order to maintain a high level of academic rigor.
